Information we collect
You can browse the public atlas without creating an account. If you create an account with email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. If you use Google sign-in, we receive a verified email address and Google account identifier needed to sign you in; we do not receive your Google password.
Profile fields—name, address, phone number, qualification, profession, and organization—are optional. We collect them only if you enter and save them.
When you submit an issue report, we store the report title, details, references, chosen reporter-visibility setting, and any files you attach. The service also uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in.
How we use information
We use account information to authenticate you, maintain your session, let you manage your profile, and respond to or investigate reports. Report information helps us review corrections, accessibility concerns, broken links, and evidence concerns.
We do not sell personal information or use it to make automated medical, employment, insurance, or other high-impact decisions. BioBody OS is an educational resource, not a diagnostic or treatment service.
Security and retention
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including password hashing, secure session cookies in production, access controls, and limits on report uploads. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep account, profile, and report information for as long as needed to operate the service, resolve reports, meet legal obligations, and protect against abuse. We may retain limited records where necessary after an account deletion request.
Your choices
You may leave optional profile fields blank and choose how you appear with each report. To request access, correction, or deletion of account or profile information, contact the site team using the details provided with the service. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact the BioBody OS site administrator through the project’s published contact channel. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive personal information.
