Privacy policy

How BioBody OS handles information when you browse the atlas, create an account, or submit a community report.

Information we collect

You can browse the public atlas without creating an account. If you create an account with email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. If you use Google sign-in, we receive a verified email address and Google account identifier needed to sign you in; we do not receive your Google password.

Profile fields—name, address, phone number, qualification, profession, and organization—are optional. We collect them only if you enter and save them.

When you submit an issue report, we store the report title, details, references, chosen reporter-visibility setting, and any files you attach. The service also uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in.

How we use information

We use account information to authenticate you, maintain your session, let you manage your profile, and respond to or investigate reports. Report information helps us review corrections, accessibility concerns, broken links, and evidence concerns.

We do not sell personal information or use it to make automated medical, employment, insurance, or other high-impact decisions. BioBody OS is an educational resource, not a diagnostic or treatment service.

Sharing and visibility

Issue reports and attachments are available to the site team for review. Your selected visibility setting controls which optional profile fields may be shown with a report; choosing “Anonymous” shows no profile fields. Do not include sensitive health, identity, financial, or confidential information in a report or attachment unless it is necessary.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or to investigate abuse and security incidents. External links, including Google sign-in and cited sources, are governed by their own privacy practices.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including password hashing, secure session cookies in production, access controls, and limits on report uploads. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

We keep account, profile, and report information for as long as needed to operate the service, resolve reports, meet legal obligations, and protect against abuse. We may retain limited records where necessary after an account deletion request.

Your choices

You may leave optional profile fields blank and choose how you appear with each report. To request access, correction, or deletion of account or profile information, contact the site team using the details provided with the service. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

This policy describes the current BioBody OS application. If the service adds new data uses or third-party integrations, this policy will be updated with a new effective date.
